Statement to voters
I have lived and worked in Enfield mostly since I chose to move here in 1983, including five years in Enfield Lock.
Full statement
I know what it's like moving house because the rent goes up. My four daughters all grew up in Enfield and have blessed me with six grandchildren. Of course I am concerned about what sort of future they will have. And how they will be able to afford to live.
Social justice and environmental care matter greatly to me. They go hand in hand. I have worked for voluntary groups since 1976 in varied roles. I helped to set up and run Your Environment Shop in Edmonton Green Market Square promoting local Agenda 21 for 11 years, then worked with the Ponders End Community Development Trust for seven years.
We need to create a better quality of life for everyone. I have seen so many changes over the years and not always for the better. So often, residents don't seem to benefit. Decisions are rarely explained clearly. I believe we urgently need councillors who pay attention and listen, who find out what we need instead of following the party line. Green Party councillors vote with their conscience.
Vote for cleaner affordable energy, better energy-efficient housing, less waste and untidiness and phasing out the senseless burning of valuable resources in the Edmonton incinerator.
Vote Green. Help to take better care of ourselves and our environment, our life support system.
Vote for policies which protect us and the environment we live in.
Vote for people who listen to you and make sure your views are heard on the local council.
Please vote for the Green Party on 7th May. Thank you.
