Statement to voters
A little bit about me: I live in Hillingdon, West London, and have proudly served as an NHS GP in a practice in the neighbouring constituency of Hayes and Harlington for more than 20 years.
Full statement
My commitment to public service extends beyond healthcare, as I also serve as a School Governor for a local school in Hayes and as a Charity Trustee for a local organisation, that supports older people and those in need across Hillingdon.
Born in Barnet, North London, I attended a primary school in Colindale before my family returned to India. It was there that I spent my childhood and youth and pursued my dreams of becoming a doctor. I have been a resident of Hillingdon since 2016, living with my husband, in-laws, and my children.
So why am I asking for your support?
Throughout my entire career, I have been deeply involved in public service. As a GP, I have not only listened to my patients but also acted as their advocate. I have worked in various hospitals around the country including West Middlesex hospital where I worked as a junior doctor in the maternity unit. I have been instrumental in policy formulation and service redesign as a Clinical Leader in North West London, and worked closely with GP colleagues in Hounslow. Additionally, my role as a Board Member of a large Mental Health and Community NHS Trust, as well as my position as a Lead for Nursing Homes in my practice area, have provided me with diverse perspectives on healthcare and social care issues.
My experience as a School Governor has given me valuable insight into our education system and the challenges it faces. These experiences, together with my ability to empathise, listen, and understand people's needs, have led me to believe that politics is the arena where I can make a tangible difference, which is why I started my journey over a year ago. I am eager to utilise my personal and professional skills, accumulated knowledge, and understanding of people's concerns to serve you and the wider society.
I invite you to join me on this journey. Let us work together to create positive change and make our voices heard. Stay tuned for campaign updates, events, and opportunities to connect. Your support and engagement are crucial and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my campaign. I am eager to meet you, listen to your ideas, and pursue the matters that are important to you. Together, let's shape a brighter future.
