Statement to voters

I moved to Cottenham as a tenant and loved the village so much that I bought my first home here.

Full statement

I am involved in village life; for example, as a supporter of the multi-use games area behind the village hall; where I have been a member of the MUGA Committee in conjunction with the Parish Council. I believe that our council is too slow to address local issues, and I will push for faster and stronger action.

My plan for Cottenham is to:

  • Fix the Potholes! Work closely with the County Council to highlight the multiple road improvements that need to be made across the villages!
  • Get the Bus Franchising back on track so this is more frequent in the areas that matter the most!
  • Tackle vandalism in the Village. It is heartbreaking to see areas like the playpark vandalised. I'd be pushing for more police on our streets.
  • We have a lot of new build areas in Cottenham (such as the new Tillia Homes) and we need an infrastructure to keep up with the housing demands. I will be pushing for all new planning considerations to also contain infrastructure plans like new Schools/GPs/Shops to enable our village to thrive.

The Liberal Democrats have been far too complacent in Cottenham/Rampton for far too long and rely on election wins because of what they are not; and not what they are. I will hold them to account in Cottenham and on the wider council as it is so important to have diverse views. We don't want 45 Liberal Democrat Councillors with no accountability. Vote for me and I will hold their feet to the fire.
