Statement to voters
I have lived in Quorn, Loughborough since 1995.
Full statement
My husband Tim and I had our family here, both my children were born at Leicester General Hospital and are now grown up. I have worked here both as a manager in a major corporate company and later, while my children were growing up, I held a management role in the Civil Service in Loughborough and Leicester, working term time only. For the last 9 years I have worked for Nicky Morgan as her caseworker. I have dealt with around 1000 cases a year, so I have met and worked with people from right across the constituency.
I have been a Borough Councillor in Loughborough Nanpantan Ward and more recently in Quorn and Mountsorrel Castle Ward. During those periods I worked with the local communities, but also looked to support projects and initiatives across the whole Borough. I have served on Charnwood Borough Council Cabinet as Lead Member for Housing and Regulatory Services and also Planning, Inward Investment and Strategic Tourism.
Over the years I have been a Trustee of 3 local charities and raised funds for another; Honorary Secretary of Loughborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce; Chairman of Loughborough Ladies Circle and on the Loughborough Town Team, more recently the Shepshed Town Team and various business forums and community groups. I attend Quorn Parish Council and Mountsorrel Parish Council as part of my Ward work.
I am known for working hard and for putting as much care and effort in to solving a problem for a stranger as I would my best friend. Long ago I adopted the De Lisle School motto as my own: 'Quod justum non quod utile': Do what is right, not what is easy.
I hope to be your Member of Parliament following the election on 12th December.
