The Mayor of London sets the overall strategy and vision for Greater London. They are responsible for areas such as police and fire services, transport, housing, planning and the environment. They control a combined budget of over £17 billion.

London Assembly elections
Additional members
This election is being held today. Polls are open from 7a.m. till 10p.m.
Members of the London Assembly are elected to hold the Mayor of London to account. They examine the Mayor's decisions and actions in areas such as police and fire services, transport, housing, planning and the environment. The Assembly has the power to amend the Mayor's budget when two-thirds of its Members agree.
There are twenty-five members of the London Assembly. Eleven are elected by the whole city and fourteen are elected by individual constituencies across London.

You will have one vote, and can choose from 15 parties or independent candidates in the London Assembly.
